For the past week, I was on a cruise with my family. On this cruise were many Mexican families, almost all from Northern California, and almost all used the word “hella” every other sentence.
Anyway, some of these families were huge. I’m talking 140 people. Many people in these families had gone years without seeing one another until this reunion, thus faces weren’t always so familiar.
The greatest thing was when I was sitting outside with a few of these Mexican guys and one turns to me mid-conversation and asks, “Hey, am I related to you?” I could not stop laughing. He then asked, “What’s so funny?”
His tone indicated to me that he may have been thinking that I was thinking that it’s bad to be Mexican or part of his family or something.
In actuality, it was just the first time in my life somebody asked me such a ridiculous question.
