8/4 – "Less angry at drivers of fancy cars"

Perhaps almost as important as knowing how to drive and being a safe driver, is simply knowing the capabilities of your car.   Sure, there are plenty of crazy drivers out there who speed and cut people off, but as long as you aren’t making tight maneuvers with a giant old Cadillac, just try to keep it reasonable.

Personally, I’m very content with my Scion.  Often I’ll be getting onto a freeway ramp/entrance, and it’ll be one of those 2 lane ramps.   Suddenly, a BMW or a Mercedes might just zoom right past me.   At first it’s like, “That asshole, thinks he’s so cool speeding on by me.”

However, when I think about it more it’s like, “Wow, that car is pretty awesome.  That guy probably tapped on the gas pedal, and was well aware that his car could fly like that.”

I’m not condoning reckless driving, but if you have a fancy car with alot of pickup, and know your car well, just go ahead and pass me.   It’s okay.   You shelled out the money for it — so if you can safely and easily get somewhere 14 seconds before me, it’s cool.
