Jewish American Guy Rhymes about Israel and Ron Paul

30 Apr

For my first Ron Paul-themed rhyme, I thought it be best to do something about what’s probably Dr. Paul’s core issue, the corrupt Federal Reserve system.  For rhyme number two, I wanted to further examine a specific topic that’s particularly important to me — Israel.

I am a Jewish person living here in America, yes.  But I’m not from Israel, and have never even visited there. So what really drove me to further pursue this topic? — probably the mainstream media’s continued twisting, distorting, and perversion of Dr. Paul’s views on many issues, including Israel.   Dr. Paul’s views on what America’s relationship with Israel should be, is something that I fear is too often misunderstood by the average person.

"A couple more thoughts on the Ground Zero mosque"

4 Sep

You know which mosque I’m referring to here, the one that would actually be built two blocks from Ground Zero.

I just had a couple of follow-up thoughts to my previous post.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve heard some pundits make some more good points about why this mosque should be built, anywhere in the country really.  Besides obvious Constitutional rights, it’s worth noting that um, there are Muslim-Americans fighting in our military.

You’re telling me that people who fight in our own army don’t have the right to practice their religion freely?  Plus, equating all Muslims to terrorists makes zero sense, especially when we consider that in places like Iraq and Afghanistan, “part” of our “missions” have been to help people who are Muslim (excluding civilian casualties — those don’t really help so much).

Anyway, an argument the other side has been making, is that its “insensitive” to build a mosque so close to wear 9-11 took place.  They say it’s “disrespectful!”

Fine, you tell me where it should be built so that your sensibilities won’t be offended.   Let’s go to ground zero with a fucking really long tape measure.  One person holds one end, and another person starts walking further and further away from where the buildings once stood — holding the other end of the tape measure.   Once the tape measure is extended out the appropriate distance for you not to be offended, let me know.

Do you morons see my point?

6/24 – "Iraq, Iran, more sadness"

24 Jun

Believe me, I’m no political expert.  I’m one of those people who isn’t a polarized zealot.  I just try to “be aware” of what’s going on in the world.  That all being said, the following may come across as a gross oversimplification of complex matters.

Our country, the United States, for some reason (oil, Dick Cheney, Saddam wanting to kill George Bush I, lies about WMD’s, etc.) decided to invade Iraq.  Turns out, after our forced entry we weren’t exactly greeted warmly as liberators.

Flash forward to today, Iran is in turmoil. Images of Iranian protesters being abused by authorities fills the TV airwaves, as well as “the tubes,” aka the Internet.

Yet, in Iran’s case, the United States and the rest of the world seem somewhat hesitant to speak out against these atrocities, let alone to take action against them.

One country asks for nothing, our military invades.  The other holds up signs (IN ENGLISH) basically pleading for help, but we’re too busy watching Jon and Kate.

If anything our country appears to be very consistent with human nature.  We’re more intrigued by the girl who’s ignoring us, yet the one who wants us we know we could have, so we choose to ignore her.

12/16 – "There no way I'm not writing about somebody throwing a shoe at our president"

16 Dec

Yesterday, an Iraqi journalist threw his shoes at President Bush during a press conference.

I’ll give Bush credit for two things — his quick reaction to avoid being struck, and his showing of some ability to calmly handle this “disruption.”  Perhaps I should take back this credit though, because there’s a good chance this shoe-throwing was something that was a long time coming, thus Bush expected it and was more than prepared.

Anyway, apparently shoe-throwing in Iraq is commonplace as a way to exhibit disgust as a citizen.  Recall Iraqi citizens also throwing their shoes at a statue of Saddam Hussein.

For me, all this shoe-throwing just leads to more questions…

Do they plan ahead when shoes will be thrown?  What shoes do they wear home then?  Do they bring extra shoes?  Do they only throw old shoes that aren’t really needed anymore?  I thought the Iraqi people were mostly poor, they can afford shoes?  Is it only men doing this?  What about women, do they throw their shoes too?  If so, do they throw heels?  In such a society, are the women even allowed to wear high-heels?  Do people ever throw their shoes, then just retrieve them minutes later?  Are they returned by some sort of a “shoe-handler” in cases where mass shoe-throwing incidents are expected?  Do people often steal each other’s shoes?  Do they always throw pairs of shoes?  I would assume so.  It wouldn’t make sense to only throw a single shoe, right?

7/30 – "It came out wrong"

30 Jul

I remember this one time I was in a car with some co-workers, and we were on the way to lunch together.  One of ‘em took out a cell phone, and to me it looked very high tech.  This was actually pre-iPhone days.  Impressed by how technologically advanced it was, I blurted out, “Wow, can you bomb Iraq with this thing?”

I didn’t intend to conjure up violent war imagery, but rather my intentions were to just exaggerate the phone’s capabilities by being topical.  The joke was poorly conceived and constructed, but even worse, unbeknownst to me at the time, the other girl in the car was of Iraqi descent.  WHOOPS.

7/20 – "I don't give a shit about first ladies"

20 Jul

Here’s the only possible relevancy they have to a presidential candidate — “If the wife of a presidential candidate is severely flawed, and the man loves her and has chosen her to start a family with, what might that say about his character and decision making ability?”

Even that is a questionable philosophy though.  I mean, if you adhere to the notion that we don’t really always choose who we “fall in love” with, then if Obama’s wife or McCain’s wife truly are bitches, is it necessarily a poor reflection on them?

It’s just that what bothers me is that these women seem to get way too much attention and focus from the media.  They are unimportant to me, and (should) have no real influence on any policy making.

I’m sure Obama’s in bed with his wife watching The Tonight Show asking her for advice on Iraq, as they figure out who will be picking the kids up from soccer practice tomorrow.

3/15 – "Lumberjack Iraq"

15 Mar

After having a few conversations recently about the war in Iraq, I’ve been trying to figure out what exactly is going on over there.  Not sure if we’re rebuilding the country or it’s government, but I have a feeling we’re definitely doing a lot of standing around.

While just standing around, once in a while, we’ll get shot at, or have a tank blown up.  Then we’ll shoot back, maybe blow something up ourselves.  This could go on for the next century.

If I’ve learned anything from pro-wrestling, it’s the value of a good lumberjack match.  This is basically where two guys wrestle in the ring, and the ring is surrounded by random guys.  If one of the wrestlers falls out of the ring, or is thrown out, these other wrestlers get to beat him up, or just throw him back into the ring.

This should be our new policy in Iraq.  Get out of the center of the country, and surround the borders.  Keep all the fighting amongst the Iraqi people within the country’s borders.

If anybody tries to get into, or out of the country, we just shoot them in the head.
